DANIEL 2

READ Daniel 2:1-28 for background

Daniel 2:29-30 “29 As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came [into thy mind] upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass. 30 But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for [any] wisdom that I have more than any living, but for [their] sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart “

1. You know the story, King Nebuchadnezzar had called for his wise men to not only give him the interpretation of this spiritual dream that frightened him, but also the dream itself. The wise men and magicians feared for their lives and Daniel came to the rescue.

You talk about a disturbed king acting a bit tyrannical, Nebuchadnezzar wanted his wise men to not only interpret his dream but tell him what the dream was since he couldn’t remember it. It really disturbed him though, and he gave two options: tell me the dream and its meaning and I’ll reward you, or don’t and die.

Daniel did not speak for his own advancement for he gave the glory to God for the ability to not only interpret, but also tell him the dream. Don’t honor the prophet king, God has brought this interpretation and the dream to you.

2. These prophecies are for what shall come to pass hereafter... it is a future prophecy. This is a prophecy that would stretch from Nebuchadnezzar’s time until the Last Days, with the end being in those times.

Daniel 2:31-36 “ 31 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness [was] excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof [was] terrible. 32 This image's head [was] of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, 33 His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. 34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet [that were] of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. 35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth. 36 This [is] the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king. “

1. The image is really a timeline of kingdoms starting with this king and ending with the last of the human empires.

The Babylonian Empire is the golden kingdom and the greatest in it’s estate. Each one will be inferior to the others in quality... silver, bronze, iron (strength, but of lesser value), clay and iron. They will be of lesser quality (less glory), but mightier in strength.

2. There is a connection to all of these kingdoms starting with Babylon and the same spirit of Babylon is carried through each empire until the last one at the feet. This vision literally covers around 2500 years.

They are part of one thing... there is a unifying force tying all of these Empires together. An empire is a political power base that controls many countries. It is not just a country, but an empire rules over other countries. And the empires that would rule over and to one degree or another persecute the land of Israel are in this statue that King Nebuchadnezzar saw in his dream.

3. Nebuchadnezzar is the only gentile/heathen credited with contributing a major part of the Bible through this dream. It is a major prophecy that is further explained in further visions by Daniel and seen again both through history, and in the book of Revelation.

From the days of Nimrod and the Tower of Babel (ziggurat) and the birth of astrology and witchcraft, that same spirit of Babylon has been a force manipulating human governments trying to oppose the will and plan of God Almighty. That is why Satan is said to be the Lord of this world... this world system. That spirit of Babylon has existed and moved behind governments and powerful people and forces even after the state and empire of Babylon actually fell and was destroyed.

This statue is a visual representation of how that spirit moved through each empire, and how that the “ROCK” that came from God would destroy it utterly and establish the Kingdom of God upon Earth.

Now we look at Daniel’s interpretation of the dream:

Daniel 2:37-39 “ 37 Thou, O king, [art] a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. 38 And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou [art] this head of gold. 39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.”

1. This is a progression of kingdoms beginning with King Nebuchadnezzar and the Babylonian Empire. Babylonia and Nebuchadnezzar’s kingdom is the gold head. It stood as the most noble and great of all of the kingdoms that would follow. There would not be an empire that would ever match the glory of Nebuchadnezzar’s.

He is not “the King of Kings”, but “a” king of kings... in other words, he was the best human king of all of these that would follow. Alexander would be a much greater military general and would swallow up more land, but he would not have the wisdom or grace of Nebuchadnezzar.

God gave this heathen king his kingdom and power and strength and glory. God allows the kingdoms of this world to exist. And although before his meeting of Daniel and the other young Jewish nobles, Nebuchadnezzar would have known nothing about the true and living God... still God knew him and chose him and in the Bible declared that Nebuchadnezzar was His “servant”.

2. Each kingdom is inferior to the kingdom of Nebuchadnezzar. Now, some will be more powerful, but the quality of the kingdom as a kingdom will degrade from the golden age of Babylon. Each shall be inferior to the previous one with less real glory and stature.

You see the lessening of quality in each following empire... gold to silver to bronze, etc. But note that brass or bronze is harder than silver or gold, and iron is harder than gold or silver or bronze... there is a hardening of strength, but a lessening of quality.

And we know that Babylon is at the top and is the golden head, and the feet will be the last and most inferior (although we will see by later chapters that it will be the most terrible).

3. There has been much controversy because of the spiritual mystery of Babylon the Harlot in Revelation that Babylon would rise again. This is speaking of a religious/political system that originated in Babylon and spiritually is Babylon because of that. But we will see when we get there that it can not be the original Babylon. It is a seaport and the deserted spot that was Babylon in Iraq is landlocked.

There were books written around the time of the early 1990's about Iraq rising up and Babylon coming up from the ashes as it’s current “leader” would dream of happening. However, this is not the same Babylon... in fact the Babylon mentioned in Revelation has never departed from us, you see it in this vision changing form throughout the ages... from gold to silver to brass to iron... and now we are to the feet, but the spirit of Babylon... Babylon the Great Harlot is with us even now.

The country of Iraq will not rise up to be this Babylon spoken of in Revelation, it does not meet the requirements. It started there, but it will end elsewhere. You will notice that the main symbol of Babylonia was the winged lion or the griffin. And the lion will be seen as it’s symbol in a later vision.

4. The next kingdom to take the Babylonian Empire was the Medes and the Persians. The Medo-Persian Empire led by great kings such as Darius I and II, and Cyrus the Great would follow. They are the breast and arms of silver.

The Persians would take the Crown Prince Belshazzar (Nebuchadnezzar’s grandson) and destroy the Babylonia and make it part of their Empire which was based in what is modern day Iran. Iran would be the kingdom to allow the captives to return to Israel and rebuild Jerusalem and its Temple.

They will be a powerful kingdom, but not have the glory of Babylon. They would stand for many years as the world empire until Alexander rises up. They were a militarily mightier kingdom than Babylon, but they did not have the same glory. Bronze is a tougher metal, but worth less.

5. The third from Daniel’s day to rise up as a world empire will be the Grecian Empire under Alexander the Great (356-323 B.C.) . Related scriptures to Alexander taking the Persians are found in Daniel 7:6 (leopard = Alexander the Great); 8:8 (broken horn = death of Alexander); Zechariah 9:1-8 (Alexander's conquest of Palestine). Alexander the Great was probably the greatest general in all of recorded history. He conquered more land than any other single leader up to his time. His father was Philip of Macedonia from Greece.

The progression of these Empires through History:

Gold = Nebuchadnezzar and Babylonia
Silver = Medea/Persia Empire
Bronze = Alexander the Great and Grecian Empire
Iron = Roman Empire
Iron and Clay = Last Days Rome (European Union) mixed with another to form another Empire

6. His kingdom will be divided at his premature death between four of his generals. This is spoken of in Daniel 8 as the four divisions of which one produces the country that will produce the Antichrist. He will be the belly and thighs of brass or bronze that is under the silver breast.

7. His would be the last world empire until the Roman Empire arises out of Italy.

Daniel 2:40 “ And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all [things]: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.“

1. This kingdom is inferior to the golden one of Babylon, but it shall be more ruthless and militarily very strong for it is made of iron. And that iron will subdue the world and break all these. It will break into pieces and bruise.

Daniel 7:7 “ After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it [was] diverse from all the beasts that [were] before it; and it had ten horns.”

Rome was a very cruel empire that ruled and enslaved all of its enemies. It’s influence much surpassed that of the previous empires, but once again lacked the splendor and glory of the previous ones. Much of Rome was influenced by Alexander’s Grecian presence from its past.

3. Besides speaking ancient Latin, they wrote in Classical Greek due to the Hellenization of the Grecian Empire. Rome was that iron legs that will be referenced in chapter 7 as the terrible beast with iron teeth.

This is the empire that ruled Judea when Jesus walked the Earth. This is the empire who under the authority of Pontius Pilate authorized the crucifixion of Jesus Christ although Pilate declared Him without guilt. This iron legs that Nebuchadnezzar saw was a vicious and cruel empire.

Rome fell in the 5th century, and here’s the problem. The kingdom of Jesus that is set up will destroy that iron legs, but Rome has already fallen. So, I don’t see the Kingdom of Jesus set up yet, do you? I don’t see Jesus Christ physically ruling all the peoples of the world yet... here’s the explanation.

Daniel 2:41-43 “ 41 And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. 42 And [as] the toes of the feet [were] part of iron, and part of clay, [so] the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. 43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

1. There is a separation from the legs and the feet. The feet are mixed with clay and iron. The iron shows that it is still Rome. And it will be mixed with clay, however there is a division.

Clay is both a weaker substance and a foreign substance to iron. Also, it is within the 10 toes which corresponds to the 10 kings that will give the Antichrist his Emperor status in one day. We know from Daniel 9:27 that he is a Roman or European from New Roman Empire... the European Union... but the 10 kings will not all be European... there is a mixture of clay and iron.

Speculation on a Possible Scenario:  We see countries mentioned in Ezekiel 38 rising against Israel in the last days.  3 of them will be backed up by Magog (Russia - see the Islamic War of Ezekiel 38 Study).  These 3 countries, Iran, Libya, and Ethiopia are the most probable 3 toes of clay.  Also, these are oil-bearing nations which will enhance the financial power of the coming Beast (Antichrist).  These are the 3 that are taken by force in Daniel 7.  They are the weaker clay (oil is probably implied there as well) mixed in with the iron.

What if the 3 countries he takes violently are Ethiopia, and Iran (and/or Iraq), and Libya who was warring against Israel. He will bring peace keeping forces as the leader of Europe (or possibly as a European United Nations leader) and expel these countries with Russia and Kazakhstan out of Israel when the U.S. and Russia have a nuclear exchange. Maybe he will annex these countries with his European Forces and towards the middle of the Tribulation become a modern day Alexander the Great as he is compared to in Revelation 13. What if these three Islamic nations fall to his absolute power as he takes the oil fields and the power that goes with them, along with seven European nations who will give him absolute power in one day.

He will go from being a President or military leader of the European Union to a comparable position to becoming an Emperor of an up and coming iron and clay empire.

2. The iron legs of the Roman Empire ended in the 5th Century, but the Roman empire will be the last one standing before Jesus comes again. How is this possible? The Bible is pretty clear in Daniel 9 that the Antichrist which is the prince that shall come will be of the people that destroy Jerusalem and that happened in 70 A.D. under the ROMAN general Titus.

And in Revelation 13, it speaks of one of the heads which represents the Roman Empire as suffering a wound unto death and making the world wonder as the wound heals and the beast recovers.

The European Union (United States of Europe) is that Roman Empire risen from the dead, and they will put the Antichrist into power. He is a European leader. Rome has risen from the dead in our generation. It started with the original 10 countries of the European Common Market, and now they are becoming a true empire.

He is from Europe and this forming empire... and the E.U. is an Empire in the making right now with Great Britain as it’s chief stumbling block to normalizing all currency and military as “European”. But in the end, there will be a move to make him an emperor after great devastation and world war, and 10 kingdoms will back him (with possibly the one that he is from). They will be mixed though... both European and something else.

3. There is a separation between them... some think that it is a mixture of the Old Roman Empire countries mixed with Islamic countries who want into their union. This is worth thinking about especially since you see the iron of Rome and the clay could refer to some of the more conservative middle east countries (probably not Iraq or Iran or Syria... for Europe’s peace keeping forces will expel them from Israel).

3 of these nations he will take violently... 7 will be completely behind him, but there will be a violent upheaval in 3 of them. It is possible that these 3 are outside of Europe.

4. There is weakness in this structure. The clay does not mix with the iron. There is still strength with the European Iron, but it is mixed in with the clay and they will not really bond. There is an inherent weakness in this structure.

Daniel 2:44-45 “ 44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, [but] it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. 45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream [is] certain, and the interpretation thereof sure. “

1. Upon this “ROCK”, I will build my church, said Jesus in Matthew 16. Paul repeatedly referred to Jesus Christ as that “rock”... even the rock that gave the Children of Israel water in the wilderness. He is the “rock of ages”, and He is that rock that was cut out of the Mountain (God the Father) without hands and broke this Earthly Power that has moved through empire after empire to pieces.

The kingdom that will be set up is set up by the Messiah the Prince... Jesus Christ when He comes back to this earth to reign for 1,000 years is an everlasting kingdom. It is not a human kingdom part of this statue... but it is one established by God. No man hewed out the rock that destroyed this mighty power... God did it.

This will be the kingdom that will destroy these other powers. He shall consume all of these others and He shall rule from Jerusalem. The spirit of Babylon that Satan has used to try and undermine the plan of God and persecute the people of God will be destroyed completely.

Jesus is the chief cornerstone and the rock that will topple the kingdoms of this world. And His kingdom will never be destroyed. There will be no silly political wars or differences again. No man built this, God will set up the everlasting Kingdom that shall never be destroyed.

2. Some interesting points here. Jesus is the one who stops all world kingdoms by establishing His kingdom upon the Earth. That has not happened yet. The Kingdom of God is established in men’s hearts, but the political absolute Kingdom that brings peace to the Earth happens after the Tribulation is over.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD IN MEN’S HEARTS:    Romans 14:17 “ For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. “

THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN ESTABLISHED ON EARTH:   1 Corinthians 15:23-27 “ 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. 24 Then [cometh] the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy [that] shall be destroyed [is] death. 27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under [him, it is] manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. “

3. This Kingdom that Christ will set up will consume all of the Kingdoms of the Earth, and none shall ever rise up to replace God’s Kingdom. This is an everlasting Kingdom.

The things that we shall look to in Revelation that happen in the middle tie into the toes of this statue. The time of the end is near. Further explanation on the Antichrist and these last kingdoms will be seen as we overview Daniel 7 and 8.

Daniel 2

Daniel Chapter 7
This chapter is written in Aramaic (Chaldean)

Daniel 7:1-2 “ 1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, [and] told the sum of the matters. 2 Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea. “

1. Some quick background. This chapter is written in Aramaic or ancient Chaldean, the language of the Babylonians. This is near the end of Daniel’s days on Earth, and although the majority of the book of Daniel is written in Hebrew, there is a certain amount that he wrote in the Aramaic language... the language that someone in his position would use daily.

Also, the name of Belshazzar was used... he is said to be King of Babylon. Now, some interesting things here. First of all, according to Josephus in the Antiquities of the Jews (Chapter 11, page 671), Belshazzar ruled for 17 years. He seemed to think that his father must have died after nine months... and that the “Writing on the Wall” occurred 17 years later the night that he would be slain.

2. This was in the first year of Belshazzar. This has been a point of contention with more liberal minded scholars. I remember being subjected to a rather intense denial of the validity of scriptures over this matter back in the early 1980's in Old Testament History Class. The point of contention was that the name of “Belshazzar” or Baltasar was not found in the Babylonian Rolls of the Kings... so they strongly accused this of being a forgery and not written by Daniel, but by someone in Antiochus’ day.

Then years later, another ancient scroll was found with Belshazzar or Baltasar’s name on it as the ruler of Babylonia. Apparently his father had not died after nine months, but instead had given the throne to the Crown Prince (his son, Belshazzar) while he pursued religious studies. Belshazzar was really the Crown Prince, but reigned for 17 years in his father’s place... and although he had not been crowned king, he was the acting king.

3. According to John Gill, Josephus (already noted) and the canon of Ptolemy speaks of the 17 year reign of Belshazzar. This vision came the first year of Belshazzar, so that would be roughly 555 to 556 B.C. with the fall of Babylonia to the Persians in 539 B.C.

4. Here Daniel ends his historical writings and goes into the visions and dreams that God had given him. This is prophetic literature that spans Daniel’s time to ours. Jeremiah 25:32-winds=judgements.

Jeremiah 25:32 “ Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth. “

This is a night vision and is one of the ways that God speaks to his people... in particular prophets. Acts 2:17 “ And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: “

5. So Daniel had night vision upon his bed. Then he wrote down the dream, and then prophetically expounded upon it’s meaning and that is what you have here. This vision will be 2 years before chapter 8's vision. The vision of Chapter 8 will continue on and give further understanding to this one.

Daniel 7:1-8 “ 1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, [and] told the sum of the matters.
2 Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.
3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.
4 The first [was] like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.
5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and [it had] three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.
6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it [was] diverse from all the beasts that [were] before it; and it had ten horns.
8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn [were] eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. “
Year of first Night Vision

Sea of Humanity

4 Beasts = 4 Empires

Winged Lion = Babylonia

Bear = Persia

Leopard = Alexander the Great (Grecia)
Division of Grecia into 4 Kingdoms

Terrible Beast = Rome (Old and New)

Vicious and containing 10 horns
10 Kings or countries

1 Little King
3 of the countries taken by force
Little horn = man speaking great things
Daniel 7:3 “ And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. “

1. Now we interpret prophecy literally unless it becomes obvious that we are using symbolic language, and then if you will look you will find the meaning to the symbols in scriptures. The winds represents the forces or spirits of the powers that be.

2. And in Daniel and revelation, anytime that you see something coming out of the sea you will find that it is a sea of humanity in the same way that the flood in Daniel 9:26 was a flood of people dispersing across the face of the earth. So, this great sea is a sea of humanity and you will find that these beasts represent kingdoms that will rise up out of humanity.

We are told that these are kingdoms, and each is different from one another and rise up one after the other in the former one’s place. They will have different personalities and do different things and have different strengths.

3. There are four of these “Great Beasts” or Empires that he sees rise up out of the sea of humanity.

You can parallel what we just learned in Daniel Chapter 2 and the vision of Nebuchadnezzar. Nebuchadnezzar started with the head of gold being Babylon... take that as a guide as you travel down time through the next empires that will rise.

The Nebuchadnezzar Image will guide us in understanding the following visions of these great empires that will rise and lead to the end of the Age.

Daniel 7:4 “ The first [was] like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it. “

1. The lion was a symbol of Assyria (the empire just before the Babylonian in the same land), and the winged lion was the standard symbol for Babylon. This engraving was found on one of the walls of Babylon. You can see the wings at the side of the lion. The mythical name for such a creature was a griffin or gryphon. But Daniel saw this as a representation of the government that held him at the time that he had the dream and no doubt understood who it meant.

The lion was made to stand upon the feet as a man and a man’s heart was given to it. Daniel is shown that this beast is a representative of a man.... in fact the man who ruled the nation that is represented by the winged lion. This could represent Nebuchadnezzar’s heritage as seen in Belshazzar or in Belshazzar himself who had inherited the kingdom.

2. The winged lion is BABYLON.

Keep these beasts in mind... Babylon was actually the 3rd world empire to oppress Israel. Egypt was first, and the Assyrian Empire followed before they were overtaken by the Babylonians. Note though this dream begins with Babylon because that is who is in power at Daniel’s time.

Daniel 7:5 “And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and [it had] three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

1. The Empire to overtake Babylon was the Persians. Cyrus the Great overcame the Medes... and the Medes and the Persians come from what is modern day Iran. Great leaders like Cyrus the Great and Darius I and Darius II rose up.

Another beast or empire arose upon the ruins of Babylon. It, like the bear, was less generous and strong than the lion which describes the Babylonian people for they were more uncivilized. But they were a “strong like a bear” people. This is the silver breast of Daniel 2. The bear is hungry and dangerous however, and Persia was the same way as it raised up and went upon it’s side to take Babylon.

It raised up on one side... either meaning that it rose up on one side of it’s borders and overtook Babylon... or in the context to these being leaders of their Empires... one leader rose up above the others to take land... that would be Cyrus the Great.

2. To devour meat when you understand that this is a country means to take land and conquer. And Babylon would have been one of the ribs of meat that he was eating. The countries of Lydia (ancient Turkey) and Egypt were also oppressed along with Babylonia and are the obvious 3 ribs that are being devoured.

These three acquisitions made the Persians very powerful and rose them to a level of the then World Empire status.

The (Medes) Persian Empire is the bear and followed Babylon.

Belshazzar would fall to these enemies 17 years after Daniel’s dream here.

Daniel 7:6 “ After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it. “

1. The next kingdom to oppress Israel and rise up would be the Grecian kingdom under Alexander the Great. This one is seen “after” he sees the former one. Greece would rise up after Persia. He would be described as a leopard from the great speed and power that he would overtake his enemies. Persia fell before him.

He was given dominion. Alexander had quite a kingdom and acquired it at a very young age. The symbol of the leopard would be used again for the Antichrist in Revelation 13. This would show the connection in the lives of these 2 men.

Alexander conquered much of the world in a short time. He was the greatest general that has ever lived. He was a natural leader that people followed. And he was very young when he did this. Plus he would die at a young age.

The leopard is fast and deadly. He moves with almost unbelievable speed and power. He is not the biggest cat, but he is one of the deadliest and fastest. With thirty thousand men, Alexander could beat an army of six hundred thousand; and with this same handful of men subdue all of these kingdoms and nations in just a few years time.

2. The reason that you see 4 wings and 4 heads is that there will be 4 divisions in Alexander’s kingdom after his death. The Antichrist will arise from one of these divisions we will see shortly. These generals would help Alexander take that part of the world very quickly... speed and flight seen by the wings. There are four of them because there were four generals.

And at Alexander’s early demise, they would split his Empire into 4 smaller kingdoms. The 4 heads being the 4 generals that would become the smaller countries’ kings. Wings are for speed to conquer, and the heads for the leadership after his death.

3. A leopard is a smaller beast than a lion or a bear and Alexander started small from a small Macedonian kingdom of his father’s. But Alexander would rise to take the world. It’s interesting to note that each kingdom seemed to take more land but all were inferior to the previous one according to Daniel 2.

One commentator believed that a leopard was used because of the inconsistency of Alexander. He was full of virtues and vices together. For every great point, he had an equally great bad point against him and the spots would represent that.

4. The leopard is strong and fast and cruel which described Alexander. Besides the 4 divisions from the 4 wings (and in Daniel 8 you see the four divisions ever more), you see the 4 wings showing a greater speed than that which Babylon had (they only had 2).

In six years, Alexander subdued part of Europe, all of Asia extending to India, and the middle East including Israel, Syria, and Egypt.

A historical story: Arimazes was the ruler of a citadel on a rock in Sogdiana, which everyone thought was impregnable. Alexander sent a messenger calling for their surrender to his authority. The ruler asked the messenger snidely, “if Alexander could fly?”

When the messenger reported this insult because that he didn’t have wings, Alexander vowed that the next night he would make him believe that Macedonians could fly. They the next night found ways to get on top of the rock, and when the governor saw them coming, he declared that the Macedonian Soldiers truly had wings.

5. The four head represent the 4 quarters in which Alexander’s kingdom was divided at his death.
There were 4 generals or governors of Macedonia that would take the 4 quarters. Syria was ruled by Seleucus, and Asia was under Atigonus, and Egypt was under Ptolemy, and Macedonia was under Antipater. These were all Macedonian or Greek Generals that split up Alexander’s lands.

Daniel 7:7 “ After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it [was] diverse from all the beasts that [were] before it; and it had ten horns. “

1. This empire is more vicious and horrible than any of the others before it. It was dreadful and terrible and it conquered as with iron teeth and broke others into pieces and made their kingdoms as residue after their destruction. This shows a complete destruction and humiliation of their enemies. This is taking into slavery and control all those before it.

This kingdom was different than any other before it. And the Roman Empire was very different than any other before or after. Rome enslaved the known world and brought Roman religion and politics into each conquered nation.

The fourth terrible beast is the Roman Empire.

2. The Roman Republic lasted around 500 years until the year 27 B.C. By then, they had already taken Palestine under it’s control. The Roman Republic was an example of a nearly perfect Democratic Society. But even in it’s Republic years, it was a vast Empire holding a wide variety of properties that spanned much of the world. But after 20 years of Civil War, the Roman Empire emerged in 27 B.C. Through the kingdoms of both the Republic and the Empire that would stand from 27 B.C. to A.D. 476, the efficient destructiveness of their armies and firm government were felt throughout the known world.

3. It had ten horns... we will see in a later verse that this is explained as being 10 kings. An empire will have one emperor in control of the empire and have puppet kings of each member nation underneath him. These are 10 kings (and their respective countries) that are part of the beast which represents the Roman Empire. And these countries are instrumental in putting this little horn in power as an emperor has power.

It had iron teeth, just as it is described as iron in Daniel 2 in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. Devouring means to conquer land. When any of these beasts go devouring, then they are eating up lands.

Note also the fact that this is a two-fold prophecy, for it speaks of the Roman Empire which fell many years ago, and at the same time speaks of the coming empire that will give power to the Antichrist which is a last days prophecy for our time. The reason being that this Roman Empire that seemed to die (had a wound unto death) is now alive again as the European Union in Revelation 13. It is Rome reborn.

Daniel 7:8 “ I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn [were] eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. “

1.The first clear description of the coming Antichrist. He is another little horn from among the other 10 horns. He will be the prince of the people who will come and destroy Jerusalem (see Daniel 9:24-27), so he will be of the Romans. That little horn will arise out of the Roman beast.

Horns are a symbol of power and authority. Kings are considered horns in these prophetic visions. So, there are 10 horns that are part of the Roman Beast. They and this little horn are part of this beast. The Beast is Rome or today the European Union. He is a Roman Prince.

These 10 horns are also the 10 toes of Daniel 2. We know from Daniel 2, that some of them are of the iron of Rome, and some of them are from somewhere else... they are clay. There is a separation in the nature of the 10 horns or toes... although there is a connection to this Roman Prince, and they will give him power as an Emperor.

Revelation 17:10-13 “ 10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, [and] the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. 11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. 12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. 13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. “

• 7 Empires - Egypt, Assyria, Babylonia, Persia, Greece, Rome, European Union
• The one that is was Rome in John’s day
• The one that is not yet come, but will continue a short space is the European Union (New Rome)
• The eighth king or Emperor shall be the Antichrist... he is of the 7 and goes to the Lake of Fire
• The 10 horns (10 toes in Daniel 2) are 10 Kings over 10 lands
• They receive power in one hour with the Antichrist.
• They give their power and strength to the Beast or Little Horn... he becomes an Emperor

HE WILL TAKE THREE OF THE FIRST 10 KINGS VIOLENTLY AND PLUCK THEM BY THE ROOTS! Until a week ago, I never considered the following possibility of the identity of the 3 kingdoms. There has been a lot of speculation. Some erroneous thoughts are as follows:

[1] There will only be 10 countries in the European Union when this happens... no, there are 10 that will give him power. More to the point, there will be 7 who will give him power, and his acquisition of the other 3 will further help that power base so that he can become an emperor.

[2] There will be 13 countries (closer to the 15 that are members of the E.U. now). No, the text says 3 of the first horns (there were 10 of them).

A Possible Identity for the 3 that he takes violently:
• Consider that this man will be considered a peace maker, and will take European Peace Keeping forces into Palestine to enforce a Peace Treaty and push the invaders off of Israel’s land after America and Russia have tried to annihilate one another.
• Russia will be weakened by the exchange and will retreat back to Russia until God pulls the hook in her mouth and brings her back to Israel for the End.
• There were 3 lands invading Israel... 3 countries that was attacking that will be overcome by the European Forces: Ethiopia, Libya, and Persia (Iran and perhaps Iraq).
• Consider for a moment that the European Leader has taken and overcome Ethiopia and Libya and Iran (with the possibility of Iraq)... and puts his governments in place there. He now has a oil controlling powerbase. Especially if Saudi Arabia was destroyed with America (see Ezekiel 38).
• With the oil potential of these 3 countries and their footholds both into the Middle East and Africa, this man would have much control over the world considering the United States is destroyed at this point.
• What if the 3 countries are Ethiopia and Libya and Iran? They could be the oil bearing clay of the image’s feet mixed in with the iron of Rome.

2. This is a man as you can see that he has the eyes of a man. The three who are plucked up by the roots will come from this Roman beast. This will help establish his power base and may be connected to the 7 Thunders of Revelation 10 (speculation).

Actually the text does not say that he is a man, just that he has the eyes of a man. He will be recognized as a single man (but is he really human?).

3. He speaks great things... we will see that they are great blasphemies as he speaks against the God of Heaven and proclaims himself to be god. He will serve a god of “forces”. This is the New World Order based in the New Age concept that we are god.

Daniel 11:36-38 “ 36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. 37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all. 38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. “

Daniel 7:9-14 “ 9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment [was] white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne [was like] the fiery flame, [and] his wheels [as] burning fire.
10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld [even] till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.
13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, [one] like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion [is] an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom [that] which shall not be destroyed. “
24 Elders on Thrones - Judgment

Ancient of Days

The 24 are actually many millions
Books opened - judgment

Great words or blasphemy of Antichrist
Beast given to the burning flame
The Empires in their times

Jesus, the Son of man in the clouds

Everlasting Kingdom given to the Son of Man

This is the Rock of Daniel 2

Daniel 7:9-11 “ 9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment [was] white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne [was like] the fiery flame, [and] his wheels [as] burning fire.

1. A vision of God the Father (Yahweh) in Heaven... His fiery glory that is recorded by Isaiah, Ezekiel, and John. Actually it almost sounds like a river of fire. Thousands of thousands and myriads or ten thousands time ten thousands. This is one of the judgements... and books of remembrance and probably the book of life is opened.

This scene is very similar to what you see occurring in Revelation 4 and 5 with God the Father (the Ancient of Days) and the Son of Man or Jesus Christ (the Lion of Judah... the Lamb of God) taking the little scroll from Him as judgment is meted out.

The Ancient of Days... is the Aramaic “at-teek yowm”, the ancient of days is another name for the Lord God Almighty. This part of Daniel is in Aramaic (the language of babylon), or what is sometimes referred to as Chaldean, and not in Hebrew. The parts not in Aramaic are in Hebrew.

Psalm 90:2 “ Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou [art] God. “

Psalm 102:24 “ I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years [are] throughout all generations. 25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens [are] the work of thy hands. Psalm 90:2 (KJS) Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou [art] God. “

The Appearance of the Ancient of Days• Robe or garment as snow white... pure holiness / righteousness
• Hair of head like pure wool... purity again
• Throne like a fiery flame... this is a manifestation of God Almighty appearing in a form that His creation can comprehend... He is the Lord of Glory... the Creator... and He appears as a fiery, glorious being as also witnessed by Isaiah, and Ezekiel, and John.
• His wheels or “tornados” as whirling fire...

Wheels as burning fire... or in Hebrew... whirlwinds of fire... like tornados of whirling fire before Him.
The KJV and others say wheels, but the word “gal-gal” means a rolling thing like a wheel or a whirlwind or rolling cloud of dust.

Isaiah 66:15 “ For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. “

2. Thrones are cast down, and these are the same thrones that you see in Revelation 5 and 6... although the symbolic number of 24 is given in Revelation, they actually refer to the church and the saints of the kingdom. This is not the Great White Throne Judgement, as Christ the Son of God will sit on that throne and this is the Father and the saints around Him. This is the judgement that follows Armageddon that we will help with, and not the final judgement of the damned.

Actually, you can reference this to the judgment of the nations in which the Elders or Saints of God sit in judgment with Christ over the nations after the end of this Age at what we call Armageddon.

In Revelation 4, there are 24 thrones and Saints seen on the throne. In chapter 5, they turn into an innumerable number... here you see these same Saints and thrones cast down for the judgment of the nations... the books are opened.

This would suggest that this judgment starts during the Tribulation when the Antichrist starts his great words of blasphemy while the Saints are in Heaven. We are promised to have part of this judgment. Do not get this time confused with the “Great White Throne Judgment” which occurs after the 1000 years and a short season past the Battle of Armageddon*.

Luke 22:30 “ That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. “

Revelation 4:4 “ And round about the throne [were] four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. “

1 Corinthians 6:2-3 “ 2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? “

Revelation 20:3-6 “ 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and [I saw] the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received [his] mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This [is] the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy [is] he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. “

Romans 14:10 “ But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. “

Matthew 25:31-46 “ 31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth [his] sheep from the goats: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed [thee]? or thirsty, and gave [thee] drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took [thee] in? or naked, and clothed [thee]? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me. 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did [it] not to one of the least of these, ye did [it] not to me. 46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. “

4. Note I do not believe that the throne being set is the 10 kings that it speaks of later, as some have suggested... but it puts it in conjunction with God the Father sitting in judgement and having part of that kingdom of which the saints are declared to be the ones who are given it.

Daniel 7:10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

1. Literally a river of fire... like volcanic lava or something similar... a river of fire comes from Him... literally creation bends to His will. We are speaking of something alien to our experience. This is more than just an earth-based scene. This is God Almighty in His glory before His Saints.

Psalm 50:3 “ Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. “

Psalm 97:2 “ Clouds and darkness [are] round about him: righteousness and judgment [are] the habitation of his throne. 3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about. “

Nahum 1:5 “ The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein. 6 Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him. “

This is a powerful and frightening sight as literally a liquid river of fire is going around Him as thousands minister to Him and literally an unmeasurable number is standing before Him. Does the Sea of Glass connect to the River of Fire? I believe that some things being described is incredibly difficult to convey without our experience of seeing it ourselves.

10 thousands is an Aramaic word corresponding to the Hebrew myriad. 10,000 times 10,000 or just a whole lot of people. They are standing before Him seemingly a different group than those that are on thrones and ministering to God the Father. Perhaps these are those who are to be judged...

Point to Ponder: This is an extremely important point! What happens with these 10 kings and the little horn (the Antichrist) will bring a judgment of the nations to follow afterward... his destruction and his kingdom destroyed are tied into a judgment of those standing before the throne seen here.

Much will be decided concerning those who will take the Mark and those who will escape to keep from taking it. There will be judgment (this is not the Great White Throne Judgment of the wicked dead which is still over 1000 years ahead) following these events.

God is on the judgment seat, and the Saints ministers before Him... multiple throne cast down... as the Saints sit in judgment with God upon the nations. And the books are opened. Besides the Lamb’s Book of Life, there are Books of Remembrance in which all deeds are recorded of mankind.

Malachi 3:16 “ Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard [it], and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. “

Revelation 20:12 “ And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. “

Daniel 7:11 “ I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld [even] till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.“

1. The voice was so marked as to make Daniel behold as to what this man who has a little horn (small country) was speaking. He is speaking “great words”... words that will get him noticed. As Hitler started in the bars of Germany and compelled many before sane Germans to follow him in his promises of glory and campaign of hate and domination, so this man will be.

The beast is the Roman Empire (it fell long ago, but is resurrected in our day to bring forth this little horn and his 10 king companions). It will be slain... put to death violently.

So, the beast, which is the European Union (don’t make too much of the Roman Catholic Church paranoia theories... it’s a revived Rome in Europe... there is probably a connection, but that is not the Beast) is destroyed by fire. I personally believe from some scriptures in Revelation that this will probably be a mixture of atomic fire by men and fire from the consuming second coming of Christ at Armageddon.

2. But notice that the little horn is probably being referenced directly here. He will be destroyed and given to the burning flame. He and the False Prophet have a unique destiny. They will be cast into the Lake of Fire over 1000 years before anyone from Hell is or even the Devil and his angels will be.

Revelation 19:20-21 “ 20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which [sword] proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh. “

Revelation 20:10 “ And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. “

Daniel 7:12
“ As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time. “

1. Each kingdom had their time in history in the building of this last days scenario. In fact, you can see the hand of the devil and the hand of God in history ending in the destruction of these human institutions by the Kingdom of Heaven come to Earth during the 1000 years.

Point to Ponder: These beasts are different Empires that have risen and had their times of rule, but each fell and another rose to take it’s place. But according to Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, these Empires are part of one statue... one unifying thing. All of these have opposed Israel and God’s people for example. There has been a world dominating spirit behind all of these that opposes God by it’s very nature and oppresses the people of God. In Revelation 12, you see the Dragon or Devil as having 7 heads (to be fair, ancient accounts of Leviathan (Lucifer) of the Jews state that he was a dragon that had 7 literal heads), and these 7 heads were the 7 Empires {Egypt, Assyria, Babylonia, Persia, Greece - Alexander, Rome, European Union with the Antichrist}. The Antichrist will be seen given this power base and he has the 7 heads in Revelation 13. This is symbolic of this spirit of the world that is working behind the scenes to control this Earth.

This spirit can be traced back to ancient Babylon and the King named Nimrod in Genesis. After the Flood of Noah, he organized the people into a great nation and challenged the Will and Presence of God Himself and was confounded at the Tower of Babel. All occultic religions (all forms of witchcraft and astrology) can be traced back to Nimrod’s day and ancient Babylon. And although the Babylonian Empire has fallen, and Iraq is not the world power that it once was... that spirit that was started there in that land is the power that will put the Antichrist into power. And that is the “Babylon the Great Whore {Harlot} “ that you see in Revelation.

At times this Spirit of Babylon has worked in the background behind certain religious groups (even in some dark times of the Roman Church), and it is spirit of this world that works in certain groups today through the power of money... manipulates governments and government agencies, and politicians and leaders... always working toward that time that they will put one man in a place to take over the world. That man will end up being more than they think and will betray them. He is who we call the “Antichrist”. And that Spirit of Babylon that is seen by Nebuchadnezzar as a statue with many parts will be destroyed by Jesus Christ, the Rock... that will destroy it utterly and the kingdoms forever.

Daniel 7:13-14
13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, [one] like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion [is] an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom [that] which shall not be destroyed. “

1. First you see God the Father as the Ancient of Days, and now you see the Son of man coming with the clouds of heaven brought before the Father. This is Jesus Christ the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

Like unto the Son of Man... a title of Christ... He comes with the Clouds... over and over again through the Gospels and Revelation we see Jesus Christ coming in the clouds of heaven. And one note in reference to the tri-unity of God, as in Revelation when Jesus takes the little book from the Father, here you see Him coming and brought near Yahweh... God the Father {the Ancient of Days}.

2. The dominion is taken from the earthly powers and given unto Jesus Christ... all power already belongs to Christ, but here the entire earthly dominion is visibly given into Christ’s hands.

But this Kingdom will be like none that the Earth has ever seen. His authority and kingdom is an everlasting dominion... reference the stone in Nebuchadnezzar’s vision. It goes beyond the 1000 years, for it is forever. Matthew 28:18 “ And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. “

3. During this time, all people regardless of who they are will serve Him. All will know the Lord.

Jeremiah 31:33-34 “ 33 But this [shall be] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. “

Daniel 7:15-16
15 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of [my] body, and the visions of my head troubled me. 16 I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things. “

1. I think that if God had shown me the future of the world in this fashion it would hurt my head, too. This vision was beyond Daniel’s understand without assistance. He asks one of the Saints or Angels standing by, and as you see with John in Revelation, he begins to interpret for him.

Daniel 7:17-18
17 These great beasts, which are four, [are] four kings, [which] shall arise out of the earth. 18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.

1. The interpretation which we have already looked at on the most part: the four great beasts are four kings which arise out of the earth... they rule over four different kingdoms. But the kingdom seen at the end will be the kingdom of God that the saints of God take and possess forever and ever.

Beasts = Kings of Kingdoms or Empires... shown separate from the lesser kings of the horns.

They arise up out of the Earth.

Promise: The Saints of the most High shall take the Kingdom and possess the Kingdom forever and ever... eternity.

Romans 8:17 “ And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together. “

Daniel 7:19-25 “ 19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth [were of] iron, and his nails [of] brass; [which] devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet; 20 And of the ten horns that [were] in his head, and [of] the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even [of] that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look [was] more stout than his fellows. “

1. Daniel asks about this fourth beast... understand, he probably understood all too readily about the winged lion and it’s identity, and then he is told that they are all empires that would rise one after the other. But he fourth beast was exceptionally fascinating to him.

The fourth kingdom (ROME) shall be different from all kingdoms and shall devour the whole earth and break the other political structures to pieces. It shall overcome the earth.

It was dreadful and wicked looking. It was of a different nature than the others. The others he at least recognized as a beast, but this one is described as a terrible beast with “iron” teeth and brass nails. When it conquered, it just didn’t devour, but it broke it’s enemies into pieces and crushed the residue with it’s feet as it took land.

2. This beast (Empire) was different also from the others as in it had 10 horns in it’s head, and then another little horn arose out of the midst of the others in the beast’s head... the little horn comes up in the middle of the others out of the Roman Beast.

He will overthrow 3 of those 10 horns... and that horn has eyes and a mouth that speaks great blasphemies and he looks more powerful than his other rulers. He will be smaller seemingly, but be much, much stronger than the other kings that rise out of the Roman Beast.

What many commentators have missed is that the 10 horns come out of this beast, and the Antichrist’s little horn arises up out of the Roman Beast. The Roman Beast will produce them.

Daniel 7:21-23 “ 21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom. 23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. “

1. Now Daniel sees more... he sees the little horn or the Antichrist making war with the saints. Now the saints that are in Heaven are out of his reach and of course resurrected Saints of God could not be harmed by this ‘man’. However, those who are converted during this terrible time of Tribulation will suffer an all-out warfare waged on them by this beast.

Power Point: THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT THE CHURCH! Although the Church has been persecuted, and at times parts of them slaughtered and forced underground, the church has always prevailed. The church has always had spiritual power to not be overcome. These saints will be overcome in masses.

Matthew 16:18 “ And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. “

This promise is given to the church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Yet, during this time the “little horn” will prevail against the saints. These are converted saints of God, but lack the spiritual power of the church. The church will already be caught up to Heaven. These are saved, but not part of the body of Christ or the church that has spiritual authority and power on this Earth.
2. He will overcome and prevail against the saints of God until the Ancient of Days steps in and stops it. It will end at God saying “enough”, and then judgment will fall upon the wicked. The Ancient of Days will come.

The interesting thing is that we see God the Son coming back in glory, and we see Him as the Son of Man in the clouds. But it suggests here that God the Father will manifest Himself upon the Earth for this judgment. But even so, He has committed all judgment to the Son. That is why you see the Son of Man coming in the clouds. John 5:22 “ For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: “

3. Power Point: judgment is given to the saints of the Most High! Not only will be kings and priest, but we will be judges. The Saints will judge the nations who persecuted God’s people. That is why you see multiple thrones... the saints (seen in Revelation 4 as the 24 Elders... 12 for the Old Covenant, and 12 for the New Covenant) are sitting upon the throne... joint heirs with Christ!

Revelation 3:21 “ To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. “

4. Power Point: the Saints will possess the Kingdom! We shall have part of that kingdom... we will rule and reign with Jesus Christ as our Lord.

1 Corinthians 2:9 “ But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. “

Revelation 21:7 “ He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. “

Revelation 1:6 “ And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him [be] glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. “

Revelation 5:9 “ And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; 10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. “

1 Peter 2:9 “ But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: “

5. The fourth beast is like no other kingdom or empire that has ever been. It will be devastating when it move and conquers land. It shall show no mercy but destroy all before it.

Daniel 7:24 “ And the ten horns out of this kingdom [are] ten kings [that] shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.”

1. There might be more than 10 countries (with 10 kings or horns), but out of this Empire, 10 kings shall arise... and connected to their rising and after they do will rise the little king... he is more powerful, but is a little horn. Perhaps showing small beginnings, or that he is from an insignificant country. Either way, he will become the Antichrist.

He will be different from all the first 10 kings...he is different, as Alexander the Great with his generals... he will be different. There are several ways that this can be interpreted... which opens the door to much speculation.

2. He shall subdue 3 kings of the 10 (not 3 more which would make 13, but 3 of the first 10). I have suggested before that these 3 are the ones who invade Palestine with Russia behind them. These would be the clay toes mingled in with the Roman iron ones. If so, we would be talking about Iran, Libya, and Ethiopia (reference Ezekiel 38).

Three of them will not go willingly, but will be brought into submission by force, and their puppet kings will be submissive to this little horn.

Daniel 7:25 “ And he shall speak [great] words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. “

1. The little horn (Antichrist) will speak great words against God almighty! He will BLASPHEME ! He will speak great words of blasphemy and claim to be god himself.

He will wear out (Aramaic be-law), which means to harass continuously the saints of the most High God. This happens in the Tribulation and he will prevail against the saints and harass them continuously. This cannot happen to the church notice according to Matthew 16.

2. He will think to bring in a NEW ERA or a NEW WORLD ORDER, with him as its leader. He will try a world takeover... in part it will be successful, and in part it will not as we will see later. To change times is to change the era or age in which we live. And I do believe that it will be tied up in NEW AGE RELIGION, along with its political counterpart THE NEW WORLD ORDER being sponsored by the United Nations.

It will be put into his hand (notice that from Revelation 12 to 13, Satan has given him the power of the kingdoms of this Earth) to change laws and times. He will declare a New Age with him as it’s god and for a while be able to overcome all in this.

3. The terms *until a time, and times, and the dividing of time* means literally 3½ years; by "a time" is meant a year, the longest part of time; by "times", two years; and "the dividing of time", half a year; in all three years and a half, which is the same with 1260 days, or forty two months, the time of the witnesses prophesying in sackcloth, and of the reign of Antichrist according to Revelation. The word time is the Aramaic id-dawn which means a time or a year (the fullness of a time). Used specifically here would mean a year and 2 years and half a year or 3½ years.

Revelation 11:2 (KJS) But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty [and] two months.
3 And I will give [power] unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred [and] threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

Revelation 12:14 (KJS) And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

Revelation 13:5 (KJS) And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty [and] two months.

The Antichrist will have power over those who have believed upon Jesus in the last half of the Tribulation for 3½ years. The 2nd half of the Tribulation will see his reign of terror.

Daniel 7:26-28 “26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy [it] unto the end. 27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom [is] an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him. 28 Hitherto [is] the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

1. When Daniel saw the Son of Man coming in Clouds and the judgment... they shall take away the Antichrist’s (Little Horn) dominion and consume and destroy that evil kingdom that he has set up.

They shall take away his dominion ( the Antichrist’s)... but notice the “they”. It is God with His saints with the Son of man (Jesus) who takes away the authority from the Antichrist and establishes the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. They will sit on the thrones in judgement with God the Father and judge the nations.

2. The 1000 Years of Peace will begin as Antichrist’s reign of terror ends. All other powers and authorities will obey Christ’s with us being a part of it. It shall be an everlasting kingdom.

The people of the Saints of the Most High shall be given the Kingdom. The Kingdom of Heaven shall have come down to Earth. And all dominions shall serve and obey God.

Finally, all governors and governments shall serve the Lord of Hosts. God will be in charge, and the enemies will be subdued.

The Kingdom of God seen in Jesus Christ reigning on the Earth is an everlasting Kingdom that shall never pass away.

3. Here is the end of the matter. Chapter 8 will shed even more light on what is coming.
