Revelation 1:1-9 “ 1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified [it] by his angel unto his servant John:

2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

3 Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand.

4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace [be] unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

5 And from Jesus Christ, [who is] the faithful witness, [and] the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him [be] glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 1:1 (KJV) “ The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified [it] by his angel unto his servant John: “

Revelation 1:1 (NAS) “ The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must shortly take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John,”

GREEK OF REVELATION 1:1 "A Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him to show the slaves of Him things which it behoves to occur with speed, and He signified sending through the angel of Him to the slave of Him John.

1. The book is called the "Revelation of Jesus Christ. “  "Revelation" (apokalypsis) means to expose in full view what was formerly hidden, veiled, or secret...  “ The Apocalypse “.  It is the unveiling of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 1:1 (CLV) “ The Unveiling of Jesus Christ, which *God _ gives to Him, to show to His *slaves what |must |occur~ in swiftly; and He signifies it, _dispatching through His *messenger to His *slave John, “

The content of the book comes from its author, Jesus Christ. Yet even Christ is not the final author but a mediator, for he receives the revelation from God the Father ("which God gave him to show"). John is the human instrument for communicating what he has seen by the agency of Christ's messenger or angel.

It’s Jesus’ Revelation¼ not John’s.  John is the messenger¼ and another heavenly angel or messenger witnesses to John as well.  It is sent to the 7 churches, but it is the Revelation of Jesus Christ.

2. It will occur speedily.  Speedily?  How can anyone say that?  Well, even though it’s almost been 2,000 yeas since this book has been written you must understand things from God’s vantage.  This has actually been just a blink with God who stands outside of time.  A day is as a thousand year to Him.

The term, which MUST shortly come to pass, is “to bind”.  God is bound by this to bring it to pass.  When it comes, it will begin to happen speedily, but it does not mean that it had to come to pass soon in John’s day.  The word for soon means “speedily” literally.

There is an urgency¼ a feeling that these things must soon happen¼ to be aware of them that we are on the verge of them coming to pass¼ written a little over 1900 years ago¼ and although this is the first generation that is seeing some of it come to pass, the fact is that all Christians should live as if it is imminent¼ and so it is in God’s view.

But when it begins, it will occur in quick succession.  But we must remember this is God’s clock and not our own.

2 Peter 3:8 "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day [is] with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day."

3. Note that according to all Jewish and Christian thinking, the six-thousandth year mark for man is coming up which many believe will mark the beginning of the thousand years of peace corresponding to the seventh day of rest.  This is a theory, but it fits what God seems to be doing.

The reality is that there are differences... omissions in genealogies in different books, so a complete genealogy is in question.  In other words, we are not really sure how long that mankind has been here since Adam.

I know that according to one Pope, we are around the 6,000 year mark... and we probably are, but it is certainly not a certain thing by scriptures.  Therefore, this idea that the 7th 1000 year period coming up (the 1000 years of peace which is definitely coming) must start in accordance to the exact 6000 year mark of man using this scripture as the authority is questionable... but it merits consideration.

4. This revelation is to His servants¼ they need to know what will take place.

The word servant in KJV (bond-servant in the NAS)... means literally a willing slave.  But a bond servant is someone so devoted to someone else that they give themselves totally to them.   They have given themselves over to another’s will.

The reality is that God created us as “servants” by nature.  As the song by Bob Dillon says, “you’ve got to serve somebody... it might be the devil or it might be the Lord, but you’ve got to serve somebody.”  Even when we try to be our own master and master others, we find ourselves slaves to our own weaknesses... thus giving control to spiritual darkness.

But to the servants of the Lord... to those redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ from the slavery of “sin”, and now set free to live the abundant life in Christ... we are blessed by this revelation.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “ 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. “

1 Peter 1:18 “ Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation [received] by tradition from your fathers; “

This is the testimony of Jesus Christ and the Word of God.

There is a blessing to the one who shares this with you, and there is a blessing to you who hear it¼ there is a blessing in studying Revelation¼ both for the messenger and the receiver.

Few   people ever understand this simple truth... but there is a blessing in studying and understanding this Revelation of Jesus Christ.

·         There are 2 reasons why we should from time to time look at this document¼ it is God’s will we understand what will happen and He blesses us when we study and learn from it.

Revelation 1:2 “ Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. “

GREEK OF REVELATION 1:2 "Who bore witness {of} the word of God and the witness of Jesus Christ, as many things as he saw."

Revelation 1:2 (CLV) “ who testifies to the word of *God and the testimony of Jesus Christ, whatever he perceived. “

1. He declares that John is testifying of the Word of God, and the testimony of Jesus and what He saw.

Point to Ponder:  He describes things later the best that he could¼ but here is a pre-industrial age man seeing the wonders of our age and describing them as best he could¼ he does pretty well at it actually, but we must keep that in mind.

It’s interesting that God would choose a blind prophet (according to Church History)  to give a vision to.  No doubt that there was nothing to interfere or hinder the vision of the Lord.

This is a very visual record.  Notice the imagery which you see in the book of Revelation.  No wonder it terrifies so many, for he caught visually the horror of what was to come.

2. John is the witness of Jesus Christ, the one who gave the prophecy.  Who is John?  By the witness of the writer of the book and of those authorities who lived in the same era it was the Apostle John, the youngest of Jesus’ inner circle of disciples who would always be seen next to Jesus.

“The disciple whom Jesus loved” who was promised a natural death in contrast to his fellows.  He wrote this on the island of Patmos in the last part of the first century.  And although some had tried to kill him, he lived anyway to bring forth this prophecy.

John was allowed to live to such an age to bring this special Word to the Church... addressed to the seven literal churches mentioned (and you can find your church somewhere therein).  He was the only Apostle to not be martyred, although several time according to church history they tried to kill him for his witness.

But God had a plan for his life.

Revelation 1:3 (KJV) “ Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand. “

GREEK OF REVELATION 1:3 " Blessed {is} the {one} reading and the {ones} hearing the words of the promises and keeping the things having been written in it; for the time {is} near. “

Revelation 1:3 (CLV) “ Happy is he *who is reading and *those who are hearing the word of the prophecy, and who are keeping *that which is written~ in it, for the era is near. :

1. There is a blessing attached to reading and keeping this prophecy.  There is a reason to study the book of Revelation.  You are blessed when you heard it taught and preached and keep the words.  It is 3-fold in its nature.

The blessing is 3 fold.  It is for those who :

(1) read the book,

(2) hear the prophecy,

(3) keep those things written – an added exhortation with keeping them.

If you understand what is in Revelation, both the promise to believers and the warning to the world, then you will live righteously not only out of love, but out of expectation and of fear.  Some fears are healthy¼ it is a healthy thing to fear the Lord and to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

You really don’t know when Christ is coming back, but we live in the generation of mockery, doubt, and blasphemy.  This is the age in which even we in the church are being seduced by seducing spirits and doctrines of devils and have quit looking for His coming.

1 Timothy 4:1-2 “ 1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;”

Note also that this is a “prophecy”.  The Greek word “propheteia” is used.  It means an utterance from the mind of God (inspired or breathed by God’s Spirit through the prophet) that can include directions for today; revelations of the past; and revelations of the future.  God is the only one who can declare the end from the beginning.  He is already extradimensionally in the future, and when He declares through a prophetic utterance that something will be, then it already is for He is there already.  It is not like some psychic prediction (that is the counterfeit to true prophecy), but it shall be for God has declared it.

2. And we are to understand that the time is at hand.  And especially today when you see this last days scenario being set up understand that the time is at hand.

Inner Message:  The early church lived like Christ would come at any time.  In our generation¼ the last generation before His return (I believe) has the attitude that Jesus spoke about¼ as it was in the days of Noah and Lot¼ giving in marriage, drinking, carrying on with life like judgment will never come.

However, if we are obedient to God’s word and wish to not be taken unaware as the world will be, then we must live like Jesus Christ was coming back at any time.

Matthew 24:42-44 “ 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

Matthew 25:13 “ Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”

3. We should be balanced Christians¼ studying and teaching and preaching and hearing and doing all of God’s word.  And Revelation is a part of God’s Word and John was a witness to this Word of God.

 Lesson Two

Revelation 1:4 “ John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace [be] unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; “

GREEK OF REVELATION 1:4 "John to the seven churches in Asia:  Grace to you and peace from the {one} =THE ONE WHO IS being and the {one who} was and the {one} coming, and from the seven spirits which {are} before the throne of Him,"

Revelation 1:4 (CLV) “ John, to the seven ecclesias *which are in the province of Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him *Who |is and *Who was and *Who is coming~, and from the seven spirits *which are sight of before His *throne, “

1. This letter is for the Church.  It was addressed to 7 literal churches in the district of Asia Minor or modern Turkey.  It is a book to be understood by Christians, for it is to the church.  And it is a very spiritual book, and it requires the leading of the Holy Spirit to understand it.

The world cannot understand the truths given here.  It takes the Holy Spirit to understand this prophecy.  The world will wind up putting next to Nostrodamus in the checkout lines in the kind of newspapers you use to line your bird cages.  They mock and misunderstand what has been given.

Deuteronomy 29:29 “ The secret [things belong] unto the LORD our God: but those [things which are] revealed [belong] unto us and to our children for ever, that [we] may do all the words of this law.”

Revelation is the spiritual Revelation or unveiling of prophetic mysteries (a deeper spiritual truth than what you see on the surface).  And I am seeing the Holy Spirit open these mysteries in this last generation as teachers and preachers are receiving the same understanding of this prophecy.  I find it fascinating that many teachers that I was at odds with in the early 1990’s, have grown in their knowledge as so have I, and now we are in sync in our understanding of many of these eschatological issues.  God is opening it as we grow closer to the actual time.

These were 7 literal churches in which a few still survive to this day.  And although I believe that there is good basis for talking about each church representing a different era of the church, these are still 7 literal churches.  There were actually more than 7 churches in Asia Minor.

One thing for certain, you can find yourself and your church somewhere within the 7.  They were 7 entirely different kinds of churches, and every church and church member is covered there in this letter.  Whosoever hath an ear, let them hear what the Spirit says unto the churches.

The last 3 churches especially seem to be a direct representation of what is going on in this generation just before the end of the Church Age (Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea).

2. John is speaking for Jesus Christ.  And although this letter is from John, he does it in the name of Jesus.  It is actually Jesus who is the author of this letter, and John was only the instrument that He used.  Never get the messenger confused with the one who authored the message.

More liberal scholars for years have attacked the books of Revelation and John and even the smaller letters attributed to John in the name of “The Elder”.  But an amazing things is if you look carefully, you will find the same styles and the some very unique phrases only used in these books.  The author was one John, the youngest disciple in the inner circle that followed Jesus Christ.

3. This is an exhortation of grace and peace from the Lord Jesus Christ to the 7 literal churches in Asia.  There is grace and peace in being in fellowship with God, and Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace.  This Apocalypse, although frightening in it’s gravity and visions, is for our good.

John 14:27 “ Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

4. And who is the one who was, and is, and is to come.  This is synonymous with the name of God, Yahweh or Jehovah... the Pre-existing I am that I am.  Time is a dimension of space of this universe, but Yahweh IS before He made the universe.

He was and He is and He is the one to come¼ He is the eternal God.  He is literally Lord of time and all of times at the same time (if you can follow that).

Point to Ponder:  Time¼ according to modern physics, time is a dimension of our universe.  It is a fourth dimension that is related to the other 3 that we are aware of.  Time is an element of our universe, yet before our universe and hence¼ before time, God is¼ Yahweh¼ the pre-existent One!  God literally stands in and outside of our universe simultaneously and is in the future and the past and the future.  That is why God can declare the end from the beginning¼ He is already there.

Isaiah 46:10 “ Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times [the things] that are not [yet] done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

“Hebrews 13:8 “ Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

God, the I am that I am who stands outside of time, the one who was, and is, and is to come.  The eternal God is referenced here and the Holy Spirit (the 7 spirits of God).

5. On the "7 Spirits" which is mentioned first in this book here, much debate has been given over it's meaning to our understanding of God.

The Nelson Study Bible for example suggests that it has to do with the 7 pastors or angels over the 7 churches... therefore the 7 spirits of God.  I think the idea of the numerical understanding of 7 as completeness would be more likely.

It will be explained here and referenced back to this explanation when another occurrence is found.

EXAMPLES THROUGH SCRIPTURE of a sevened SPIRIT OF GOD:

Zechariah 4:2 “  And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all [of] gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which [are] upon the top thereof: “

Zechariah 4:10 "For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel [with] those seven; they [are] the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.";

Revelation 3:1 “ And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.  “

Though it does speak of the Holy Spirit in terms of a "sevened" Spirit, the scriptures are very plain that there is but one Holy Spirit:

1 Corinthians 12:4-6 "4  Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5  And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6  And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all."

1 John 5:7 “ For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. “

There is only one Holy Spirit, but His fullness is shown by a description of seven A seven fold fullness of the Holy Spirit is probably the best explanation of what is meant by the Seven Spirits of God.  A diversity of operations but the same God.

So, the number 7 here is a symbol seen in prophetic books.  If there is a deeper meaning, then that is unclear at this time and we might have to wait until we get there to know the full meaning of these references.  But 7 does signify fullness or completeness.

NOTE PLEASE:  This verse and the following makes a distinct separation of the Spirit of God, Jesus Christ the Son of God, and God the Father.  It contains within it a very good tri-unity explanation and salutation to God.

REVELATION 1:5 “And from Jesus Christ, [who is] the faithful witness, [and] the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, “

GREEK OF REVELATION 1:5 "And from Jesus Christ, the faithful, witness the firstborn of the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth.  To the {one} loving us and having loosed us out of the sins of us by the blood of Him,"

Revelation 1:5 (CLV) “ and from Jesus Christ, the Faithful *Witness, the Firstborn of the dead, and the Suzerain of the kings of the earth. To Him *Who is loving us and looses us outfrom our *sins inby His *blood “

The descriptions of Jesus in this verse includes some things that are repeated in the first 3 chapters of the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ.  These are important concepts and will be emphasized here in this study.  The later occurrences of these descriptions will not be given this much detail.

1. He gives the grace given by the Trinity or triune God, but it’s worship as well¼ from the one who was and is and is to come (Yahweh¼ God the Father), the 7 spirits of God¼ the fullness of the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ, the faithful witness¼ ruler of the kings of the earth.

Yes, they are one God, but they are also revealed to us in 3 different persons... each unique, yet they are still one.  It’s an extra dimensional concept that we really have no practical frame of reference for, because we are four dimensional beings... and God is much greater than that.

1 John 5:7 “ For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. “

2. Jesus Christ: faithful and true, the firstfruits of the first resurrection, and the King of Kings!!!!  There can be no doubt in whom that we are speaking.  Jesus by name is proclaimed here.

3. Faithful; and the witness.

Notice that here the word faithful is used of Christ.  You will see a lot of that in this book.  Jesus is called “True and Faithful” later.  He is the faithful witness of God.

Matthew 24:35 “ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”

He is called True and Faithful... He is the immortal, Living, Word of God!  He was one with the Father in the beginning.  He is the Truth!  What He says will be... period.

Revelation 3:14 “And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; “

Revelation 19:11 "And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war."

John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

2 Thessalonians 3:3 "But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep [you] from evil."

Luke 21:33 “ Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. “

John 8:14 “ Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, [yet] my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.“

4. WITNESS:  martus, which we got martyr from.  He is the true and faithful martyr who gave His life on the cross.  Jesus bore witness of God’s glory and was martyred.  Here you see martyr (a word that denotes dying) followed by the expression first begotten of the dead, an expression that denotes life.

5. First Begotten of the Dead... He is the firstborn from the dead in resurrection... the firstfruits of the first resurrection.  Everyone who was resurrected before died again.  Jesus was the first who died and rose again never to die again... in a glorified state.

Colossians   1:18 "And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence."

But Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life... when He came up, death was conquered.  And when He raises His Own in the First Resurrection, death will never have a hold over them again.

1 Corinthians  15:20-23 "20. But now is Christ risen from the dead, [and] become the firstfruits of them that slept. 21  For since by man [came] death, by man [came] also the resurrection of the dead. 22  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23  But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming."

This makes it pretty clear... Christ the firstfruits... and through Christ, the rest would be blessed and sanctified unto God.  That’s what firstfruits (such as the tithe) does.  Through Christ, we have eternal life...even for our physical body, although that form will be a vastly improved one without sin or death.

Acts 26:23  "That Christ should suffer, [and] that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles."

Romans   8:11 "But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you."

1 Peter   1:3  "Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,"

He is the head of the church: no one has the right to claim a church for themselves.  Jesus gave His pure, unguilty life for this church and this church is His.  He has the preeminence over all!

6. Jesus is King of kings¼ not only of earthly dominions, but angelic dominions¼ and of us¼ who become kings and priests¼ we will become kings later, and He is our King!

He is the archon (chief ruler and first in rank) of the kings (basileus) of the Earth.

According to Daniel 7, His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom¼ He is the rock in Daniel 2 that smashed the kingdoms of this world.

Jesus Christ is the prince or 1st Principality of the Kings of the earth.  PRINCE = Greek archon, ruler or king.

Revelation  17:14 "These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him [are] called, and chosen, and faithful."

Revelation  19:16  "And he hath on [his] vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

Daniel   7:13-14  "13  I saw in the night visions, and, behold, [one] like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14  And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion [is] an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom [that] which shall not be destroyed."

Ephesians  1:20-22  "20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set [him] at his own right hand in the heavenly [places], 21  Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22  And hath put all [things] under his feet, and gave him [to be] the head over all [things] to the church,"

1 Timothy 6: 15  "Which in his times he shall shew, [who is] the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;"

Jesus Christ does indeed rule, and He is the King of kings and Lord of lords.  He has won the decisive victory over evil on the cross and the resurrection.  He has overcome, and we are made more than overcomers when He reigns in our lives.

Matthew 11:27 “ All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and [he] to whomsoever the Son will reveal [him]. “

Matthew 28:18 “ And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. “

Philippians 2:9-11 “ 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; 11 And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father“

7. He loved us and has bought us out of sin with His own blood:

He did this because He loved us.  You see, God is love.  It really is all about love, and that is why we are nothing without love.  If we do not love, then it is a good indication that we do not even know God and are still in darkness.  If God is truly in our lives then we have love for He is love.  He makes us something.  Do you want to know how spiritual you really are?  How much do you love?

1 John 4:8 “ He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”

John 3:16 “ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. “

John 15:13 “ Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

And moreover, it is because of Jesus and His life giving love toward us that we are freed from our sins by His own life’s blood.  The base truth is that Revelation is all about Jesus, and not just His judgment but His grace.  The underlying message to the world is, “Won’t you receive His grace before judgment comes?”

Jesus Christ is our redeemer¼ we have been redeemed by His own life’s blood.  He gave His life so that we could live eternally.  We owe everything to Jesus Christ.

Our sins are not just covered, but washed away.  When God looks at us, He no longer must judge us because of the sin that has been passed down in the life’s blood of mankind, but Jesus Christ’s blood has been given in our place and God sees us guiltless or justified.

1 Peter 1:18-19  "18  Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation [received] by tradition from your fathers; 19  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:"

Hebrews 9:12-14 “ 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption [for us]. 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”

1 Corinthians 6:11 “ And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

POINT TO PONDER: We are redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ!  He gave His life’s blood to buy us out of the slavery of sin to the Devil.  To be redeemed means to pay the price that buys your freedom from slavery.  We owed our lives for sin’s sake, but Jesus gave His to set us free from sin.  Hallelujah!

You are bought with a price.  That is why you should take care how you treat yourself both spiritually and physically for you belong to Jesus body, soul, and spirit.  Sheep don’t have the right to say no to their shepherd.  Sin and the Devil were hard taskmasters, but it is a joy to follow Jesus.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20  "19  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

This gives glory to Jesus Christ.  It is His revelation and it gives Him the glory.  I does reveal what is coming on the Earth, but at the end of it is the glorious return of Jesus Christ to planet Earth.  This is the prophecy given to us to explain what will happen to bring this to pass.
