Getting Spiritual Waters out of
Old and New Wells

This is a message originally posted on the Voice of the Watchman Forum on Warriors of God

NOTEThere is a personal message about this sermon, and what it means to me personally at the end. Please pray and let the Holy Spirit speak to your heart, for God is trying to raise those who love Him up... to forget about denominational differences and age differences and traditional differences, and get full of the Spirit and love of God and do the works of God.  Its time to reap the 11th Hour Harvest together. We must NOT bow our knees to the spirit of this world or false religion.  We must come together in faith and love with other believers to reap the harvest, and take back what the Devil has stolen. God wants to make us productive in the Kingdom, and bring spiritual waters out of all of our lives!
Also, please note that I am not dealing with the Last Generation Apostasy or Falling Away in this sermon.  That is happening side by side with an 11th Hour Thrust of the Spirit to reap the Harvest at the end.  That Last Days Outpouring started at Pentecost (the Last Days starting then actually), but is accented with the Philadelphian Last Generation Church of the remnant as the 11th Hour Revival reaches those who are willing to be reached.  I am dealing with the revival aspect, and not the falling away aspect that does occur side by side.

GETTING WATER OUT THE OLD AND NEW WELLS

MAIN TEXT

Acts 2:17 " And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: "

IT SHALL... NOT IT MIGHT... BUT IT SHALL COME TO PASS...

AND IT IS... THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS BEING POURED OUT.  IT BEGAN AT PENTECOST.  NOW AT THE CLOSE OF THE "LAST DAYS" JUST BEFORE THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST PHYSICALLY TO PLANET EARTH, THIS PROPHECY IS BEING FULFILLED IN OUR GENERATION.

Young and old are both mentioned here.  I want to talk about the anointing (the presence of God... the power of the Holy Spirit to make us witnesses) falling on both the young and the old alike and what that entails.   There is a culture difference here as we see two separate generations both being anointed with this " last days anointing " and being used in similar and also different ways to the glory of God.

Youth and elders both having the spiritual rivers of living waters flowing out of their innermost being... this is a prophecy about the prophetic anointing coming alive, and God being God in their midst... manifesting the glory (khabod) once again in the midst of His church (not a building or denomination, but the gathering of the believer - body of Christ).

You see, there should be an artesian well of spiritual waters flowing up through our lives touching other people as we go...

John 4:14 " But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. "

John 4:23-24 " 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth. "

John 7:37-39 " 37 In the last day, that great [day] of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet [given]; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) "

We are to be living vessels of the Lord that has within us wells of spiritual waters coming from the presence of God and bringing the anointing... the presence of God out of our lives to touch a dry and hurting world. We need to let those waters flow... and as we become spiritual worshipers, then the anointing flows out of us. We become vessels of the holy treasure of the presence of God Almighty!

2 Corinthians 4:5-7 " 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to [give] the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. "

We literally have these artesian wells of LIVING WATERS of the HOLY SPIRIT... we have these living wells in our innermost being.  We are "vessels" of God's presence as children of God.

Our main text speaks of the people of God (the vessels of God) receiving a prophetic last days anointing and empowerment to do these works of God as God pours out His Spirit on us (Joel and Acts), and when we are empowered and revived ourselves!  You cannot give what you have not received.  We are revived, and then that fountain of spiritual waters is poured out of us. You see... THE GLORY OF GOD FALLS over us... and when we are consumed, WE ARE ANOINTED, AND THE ANOINTING COMES UP OUT OF US... as that we literally become a well of living waters.

I will pour out my Spirit upon your sons and your daughters... prophecy and visions and dreams... to share and do the works of God... to become living wells of living waters.

A Quick Warning about Capping off our wells

LETS LOOK AT TWO EXTREMES THAT WILL CAP OFF THE FLOW OF LIVING WATERS:
LIBERALISM AND LEGALISM

Now liberalism that excuses sin will cut you off from the Living Waters, but so will leaning on your self-righteous flesh in traditionalism and legalism. Both are imbalanced and unscriptural.

THEY ARE TWO EXTREMES OF THE SAME PROBLEM... DEPENDING ON YOUR OWN SELF THAN THE LORD.

IF you want to know what the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is supposed to be, then look at the book of Acts. I know that some have tried to explain away the manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit by using a scripture in 1 Corinthians that has absolutely nothing to do with the canon of scripture being completed.  It has to do with the time that Jesus Christ is physically returned to the Earth... "the Perfect One" and His physical Kingdom on Planet Earth at His Advent.  But the reality is that the manifestation of the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit were evident in the church for the first two or three centuries of the church. Then politics and ritualism took hold of its leaders, and the church became more of a ritual religion than the Body of Christ.

From the time of the Reformation and every hundred years after that there came a revival as God brought His church closer and closer to that which is was born of the Spirit to be. From the Baptists to the Methodists to the Pentecostals to the outpouring you see breaking out even now (though admittedly, most of it is outside the USA)... one last outpouring of God's glory on His church in the 11th Hour of the Harvest.

Jesus Christ is getting ready to pour out His Spirit one last time...

Among Pentecostals, some have tried to bring great division between those who are of the old school Pentecostals and those now that are of more Charismatic style, but the truth is that they are the same thing... but their traditions are different.

LETS LOOK AT ONE WAY OF VIEWING THIS WITH A PENTECOSTAL/CHARISMATIC VIEW.

You see there are two kinds of wells if you will spoken of here... the old and the new:
Some are part of the old school who are of the "old-fashioned Pentecostals".

On the negative side, sometimes they tend to get a little (or a lot) traditional and legalistic... but the reason is a basic desire for holiness.

On the positive side, they know what it is to pray until you pray through and not stopping until you do. And they know what it is to repent and humble themselves.  And they have been through the battles and gained wisdom and determination.

Some are part of the newer school who are sometimes called "Charismatic"... actually the words Pentecostal and Charismatic are describing the same thing... someone who believes in operating in spiritual gifts.

On the negative side, sometimes some of them (not all) they tend to compromise true holiness and become worldly... sometimes as a reaction to the legalism of others.

On the positive side, although it might look funny to see them doing the Holy Ghost Hop... they worship God at the drop of a hat and will supply the hat... they don't have to be primed.
They focus on faith... and faith in God and His Word will bring love, peace, joy, healing, the presence of God.

They have the zeal for new battles and desire to be used of the Lord in these last days.

NOW HERE'S THE KICKER, WE HAVE TRADITIONALLY THOUGHT OF PENTECOSTALS AND CHARISMATICS AS BEING TWO SCHOOLS OR TWO GROUPS OR TWO SIDES... BUT THEY ARE NOT. THEY FIRST ARE BOTH CHRISTIANS WHO BELIEVE IN AND OPERATE IN THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT (1 Corinthians 12-14).  ANY WHO HAS BEEN BORN AGAIN HAS THE HOLY SPIRIT WITHIN THEM, BUT THEY BELIEVE IN THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND FIRE... THE EMPOWERMENT ALLOWING FOR SPIRITUAL GIFTS TO OPERATE.  BOTH HAVE THE WELLS OF LIVING WATERS IN THEM... JUST ONE IS THE OLD WELLS AND THE OTHER THE NEW WELLS!

The older school tended to get excited after someone had worshiped and brought the glory. Charismatics don't wait for the glory to come, they worship God out of obedience to the Word of God and it still brings the glory. I am sure that someone will get upset at this, but we need to get out of our traditional and denominational shells that carnality has put us in, and see things as the Spirit does.

You see... I don't care what you call yourself, Assemblies of God, Church of God, Baptist, Nazarene, Methodist, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Church of Christ, Nondenominational or whatever you want to label yourself... men created those labels and those assemblies and divisions. Jesus paid His blood to make the church (the Body of Christ - the called out ones), and the Holy Spirit brought it forth in power on the Day of Pentecost! We are the blood bought body of Christ... the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!

Some of us have been trained to think of the others with different man-made denominational labels or side beliefs (apart from the fundamental Christian teachings... THE DOCTRINE... we must have that one right) as being the "enemy", and some of our side beliefs are different... our interpretations of some things are different, but if we are born again by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and have faith in God and in His faithfulness and His Word, then folks... we are born again by the same Spirit and the same blood of Jesus Christ, and we are family.

Some are older and with older traditions, and some are newer and just came into this and have not had time to be hindered by traditions... they just know faith in Jesus Christ and want to do something for God... Old and New Wells, but all bringing forth spiritual waters of life.

YOU SEE...

You see, God might move differently on the Old men and the Young men (dreams and visions)... but it is the same Spirit that is falling on both of them. We don't need to ignore either one... both are called out of darkness into God's glory for this hour that we live in.

God is raising us up!

He is having to prepare us... He is putting new wine in us.  Look at this:  you know that Jesus made the point that you cannot put new wine in old bottles, but there is a method that you can make old wine skins able to keep new wine and not burst.  You have to oil them up and rub the oil into them, and that makes them flexible enough to take the new wine.

God is doing a new thing... it is really an old thing... like what they had in the book of Acts... but to our generation it is a NEW THING. And God is having to anoint us with a fresh anointing and rub out the stiffness in us to get us out of our traditional ways of doing things so that He can fill us with a New Anointing... New Wine that will overflow... make us part of the Outpouring Restoration Revival that is happening even now.

THERE ARE SOME THAT ARE REJECTING THIS LAST DAYS REVIVAL AND AWAKENING... THEY WOULD RATHER CAST STONES AT CHURCH REVIVALS LIKE BROWNSVILLE OR MINISTERS WITH THIS LAST DAYS ANOINTING BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE IT.

Jeremiah 2:13 " For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, [and] hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. "

You can't go your own way when God is moving another.  I am sorry if it defies your pet theological theory, but if it is Bible based and God is saving (and He has hundreds of thousands the past few years), and it gives glory to Jesus Christ, then you had better not attack it even if you might not understand everything about it.

It is better to say God have mercy on me... I am hungry and thirsty for more of You Lord... than to go your own way and try to dig out your own cistern that can hold no water.  Its time to get back to basics.  Its time to go back to Jesus Christ in repentance and let him pour out His Spirit upon you fresh.

It is time to dig a well... it is time to dig out the secret sin and the compromise and the tradition and get it out of the way of the flow of God... it is time to get any bondage or stronghold or even weights out of the way... so that the artesian well can flow up.

John 4:5-7 " 5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with [his] journey, sat thus on the well: [and] it was about the sixth hour. 7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. "

John 4:14 " But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. "

Jacob dug a well, and in Jesus time the people of Sychar was still drinking from it's water. We need to honor the old wells... the well at Sychar was once around 150 feet deep, but today it's only 75 feet deep as the sand and dirt of the years have partially filled it in.

I believe it's time to dig out the old wells... it's time to get a new anointing in some old saints... it's time to stir up the gift... and let the rivers start flowing freely again.

And I believe it's time to dig up some new wells... it's time to let the anointing flow in some places and areas that it has never touched before... we need the new wells too.
Isaiah 12:2-3 " 2 Behold, God [is] my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH [is] my strength and [my] song; he also is become my salvation. 3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. "

GOD IS DOING A NEW THING!  Well, its new for our generation anyway! THE WILDERNESS IS BEING OVERCOME AND THE DESERT IS FEELING A RIVER... FOR SOME FOLKS ARE DIGGING OUT SOME WELLS... SOME YOUNG AND SOME OLD... BUT THEY ARE GOING TO DO IT TOGETHER.
Isaiah 43:19 " Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, [and] rivers in the desert. "

The new thing will be this... the old wells and the new wells will spring forth with the flowing of the Spirit of the Lord... the wilderness will be overcome, and there will come rivers in the desert!

God will take the old and the young... and do a new thing never done before in our generations... this is the Last Days Generation that will see the coming of the Son of Man to get His church... and we who watch and pray and love His return... we will have oil in our vessels and fire in our lamps!

And the river of Spiritual Waters will flow out of us and into a dry land... there will be a flowering in the desert!

It's time for the young men and women... even the children to seek the face of God and repent and get hungry enough for God and His righteousness that God pours His glory out upon you... and it's time for the elders... the elder men and women who have seen the battles and come through to embrace the young and seek God with them and let God refresh your anointing.

It is time for some spiritual dreams. It is time for some God-given visions. It is time for the men and women to both prophesy. It is time to fulfill our destiny in Christ.

JESUS IS COMING BACK, AND WE CAN SIT HERE AND DECLARE HE IS COMING BACK AND STILL BE TALKING ABOUT WHAT WE SHOULD DO WHEN HE ACTUALLY COMES...
OR WE CAN REPENT FOR THE HIDDEN THINGS... LOSE OUR PRIDE...

CALL OUT ON JESUS CHRIST LIKE WE DID WHEN WE WERE SAVED...

AND GET HUNGRY FOR HIS PRESENCE UNTIL HE POURS OUT HIS SPIRIT UPON US,

AND THEN THE OLD AND THE NEW WELLS WILL BE PRODUCING FRESH WATER TOGETHER.

HOW ABOUT IT, ARE YOU DRY TODAY? DO YOU WANT MORE OF THE LORD IN YOUR LIFE?  MORE AND MORE OF YOU JESUS AND LESS AND LESS OF ME...
The Spirit of the Lord wants to transform us! He wants to take us to the next glory into the image of Jesus Christ. It's time to hear the call of God!

2 Corinthians 3:18 " But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord. "

A PERSONAL NOTE ON THIS: I am an unconventional minister, I don't just try to be but I know that I am perceived by many that way. I am just trying to be who I am supposed to be in God and be real about it. Both as pastor or teacher or evangelist (which God has blessed me to stand in each of those places at times), I am just not very traditional. I relate well to Baptists and Pentecostals and Nazarenes and Methodists, and... well, you get the idea. I come from an evangelical, fundamentalist, Pentecostal/Charismatic background. I get along with Charismatics and Pentecostals alike (though sometimes they try to find problems with each other because their "style" of worship is different. A ministry couple a few years ago from Virginia gave me an email prophecy that said, "I have brought you up a strange way." And it has been different, but God has made me able to relate to both the old and the new together.

I have found that God is raising up two generations together to reap the 11th Hour Harvest. There is a prophetic prediction about the last days that is coming to the surface with a passion in this last generation. You see... God wants to use us all that love Him... that hasn't bowed their knees to sin or false religion. We might have a different way of looking at things, but we both love the Lord and have Him in our lives... and He is moving in us together. We aren't different things... we are just the difference in the older wells and the newer ones. We need to uncap our wells and let the same living water flow from us... and let God use both together to bring a blooming in a spiritual desert.

I pray that you take this as it is intended... as an exhortation to become part of what God is doing.
